Services I Use

As someone who has a lot of technical curiosity and is always experimenting with different apps, websites, and services, I frequently get asked for recommendations. Here are my affiliate links to services that I use and recommend.

Passive investing, low-cost index funds, diversification, automatic rebalancing, and tax-loss harvesting. Burton Malkiel (author of A Random Walk Down Wall Street) is the Chief Investment Officer. I’m a huge fan.

HostMonster has hosted this site since 2009, and hosts ~15 other sites I have on this server for very little money. It’s easy to use, has cPanel, and has amazing US-based phone support with extremely short wait times.

Want a Virtual Private Server? DigitalOcean is EASY. I showed a group at work how quickly I can create a VPS and they were blown away. The interface is streamlined, easy to use, and great for beginners who want more control over their servers than HostMonster provides.

I like DigitalOcean, but I don’t want to have to deal with all the security upgrades and patches. Enter ServerPilot, which does all that for you.

All my domain names are registered with Hover. GoDaddy has an awful, disorganized backend, and is always trying to upsell you or charge you for things you get free with a domain name registration. Hover is clean, simple, straightforward, and easy to use.
